Crescent Hill Reservoir Portraits | Alexis

“She belonged to a different age, but being so entire, so complete, would always stand up on the horizon, stone-white, eminent, like a lighthouse marking some past stage on this adventurous, long, long voyage, this interminable --- this interminable life.”

― Virginia Woolf⁣

I’ve always had a fascination with the gorgeous Gothic architecture at Crescent Hill Reservoir, and as a Louisville photographer, that meant it was on my “portrait photo location bucket list”. Thankfully this winter, model Alexis Bode agreed to do a photoshoot there with me. We both felt very inspired by the Brontës and 19th-century literature on that gloomy day by the reservoir. Gothic novel/book covers/Sargent painting vibes, for sure.

“It is far harder to kill a phantom than a reality.”

― Virginia Woolf⁣
