Studio Sample Album | Professional Line Photobook from Saal Digital
Last month, I decided to order a studio sample album from Saal Digital in the form of their “Professional Line Photobook”. Full disclosure: I applied for a significant discount voucher to product test this album, though I am not writing any kind of biased review.

I chose to order a studio sample with photos from multiple engagement sessions and weddings so I could really show off my work to potential clients, and to give an example for those who might want to purchase a photo album or photo book from their photo session.
Specs: I ordered a 12”x8" book with 30 pages, matte photo paper, acrylic and black leather cover, and premium black gift box. I am really impressed with the acrylic cover— I think it makes the book stand out, and the gift box does a really good job of protecting the book while also being elegant. I really love objects with weight to them, and I think weight of the acrylic and the added size and depth of box does that for the book.
Keeping in mind that this is a photo book, rather than an album, I have to have realistic expectation for the thickness of the pages and overall thickness of the book itself. The pages are definitely thicker than your average book page, not as thick as some heirloom photo album pages, and they do have a sheen to them, despite my ordering matte photo paper.
I was not a big fan of their design software— I know I could use a program to design the book and upload the design to be printed, but I wanted to give their album design software a shot. I didn’t like how the layouts were organized and limited scope of adjusting images within layouts or swapping layouts. This might be a personal frustration.
All in all, this is a really elegant, luxurious photo book. The leather is soft, and the acrylic is really a standout for me— though I can see having a plain leather cover for more discreet photoshoots being really lovely as well.
I am definitely excited to offer this style photo book as an option for clients to choose when ordering products from their photo sessions!
