Huber's Orchard Fall Family Photos | Diane and Richard

This fall family photo session at Huber’s Orchard and Winery was a dream to photograph! Going to Huber’s has been an autumn tradition of mine for years, and it’s so easy to get there as a Louisville area photographer so it was perfect for these fall family photos. Diane, Richard, and the girls got to romp around the apple orchards, which made the perfect setting!

Dancing Around Louisville | Emily Larsen

“Dance first.
Think later.
It’s the natural order.”

- Samuel Beckett

I love when my interests merge with my art making and I get to collaborate with brilliant people for photos. This dance photography session was a fantastic romp around the downtown Louisville area with dancer Emily Larsen— one of many, I hope!

Emily is a professional dance competitor and instructor at Dance Louisville whom I met while taking dance classes. We started our afternoon photographing at the Patriots Peace Memorial (where I was totally getting Grecian Goddess Temple vibes), then moved on the the Louisville waterfront, Kentucky Center for the Arts, Kentucky Science Center, a few other spots downtown, and ended at Mellwood Arts Center. She is truly incomparable and slayed the whole session!!

Best of Louisville Party 2018 | Event Photography at C2

Being a Louisvillian, I grew up seeing the "Best of Louisville" awards and plaques at local restaurants and businesses, reading the list of winners, nominees, and articles about them in Louisville Magazine. This year, I was thrilled to photograph the 2018 Best of Louisville party at C2 Event Venue

The party started after an awards ceremony for the 60 or so winners-- "Best Foodtruck", "Best Pizza", etc, awards were given to reader-voted winners, and there was also a Critic's Choice selection of awards such as "Best Bar you Haven't Heard of (Yet)". Kelly K of 99.7 DJX emceed the event, and there was a burlesque performance by Ethel Loveless, of the Limbo's Critic's Choice award-winning Titty Tiki Tuesdays. The event raised funds for UofL's James Graham Brown Cancer Center, and a mix of local restaurants and liquor brands provided samples of their dishes and drinks to event goers while they grooved and danced to the music of the Louisville Crashers.

Check out some of the photos from the party below, and check out Louisville Magazine's gallery of photos here.

Summer Family Photos | Fields Family

I had such a great time photographing the Fields family earlier this summer in their backyard-- which happens to back up to the Parklands of Floyd's Fork! I fell in love with the shade that a huge magnolia tree was giving, and we got some great light creekside amongst the trees! Getting the whole family to laugh and the cousins to make faces at each other was just magic! Definitely head over heels for that summer golden light.

Whitehall Garden Golden Hour | Kara and Matt

"If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden." - Frances Hodgson Burnett

In May I was fortunate to photograph a very special couples and family session for Kara and Matt at Whitehall House and Gardens, which has a variety of garden settings from formal gardens to a more wild shade garden. We started with a couples session for Kara and Matt, and added in their kids for some really fun family photos romping around the gorgeous gardens! We were interrupted by one of the garden's resident cats who had no problem wandering in and out of our photos, causing much laughter in his wake. All in all, a perfect evening for a photo session.
