As any Kentucky photographer knows, the weather can be unpredictable when photographing outside— especially for spring photo sessions! This engagement session looked like it might be gloomy and a bit rainy, but Mary and Collin toughed it out and were such an amazing couple! I’m glad we decided to brave the light rain because we had so much fun with their rainy spring engagement session! I keep clear bubble umbrellas in my trunk of photoshoot necessities, so we used one for their couples session as needed during the sprinkling rain. They also brought picnic supplies with them for some adorable picnic photos! I am so excited to photograph their wedding in November— their smiles are infectious!
I was so lucky to photograph Ali and Nick’s engagement session while I was in California! I happened to be staying with Ali’s parents in Stinson Beach on the weekend of their engagement party, so before the festivities we took a walk on the beach and had fun running in the sand. It was made even more special because Ali’s brother had made a series of painted sea creature wood cutouts and we used them in some of the photos!
I love being able to travel as a photographer and photograph sessions like this in locations I don’t have available as a Louisville area photographer!

"If you look the right way, you can see that the whole world is a garden." - Frances Hodgson Burnett
In May I was fortunate to photograph a very special couples and family session for Kara and Matt at Whitehall House and Gardens, which has a variety of garden settings from formal gardens to a more wild shade garden. We started with a couples session for Kara and Matt, and added in their kids for some really fun family photos romping around the gorgeous gardens! We were interrupted by one of the garden's resident cats who had no problem wandering in and out of our photos, causing much laughter in his wake. All in all, a perfect evening for a photo session.
Lauren and Michael had been living half a country apart when we planned their engagement photos for an upcoming trip Michael was taking to Chicago. We decided on the Garfield Park Conservatory for our photo session due to their outdoor labyrinth-- Michael proposed to Lauren in the outdoor labyrinth at Chartres Cathedral in France this past winter, so we thought the Conservatory's labyrinth would be a perfect way to continue the theme!
When we were planning to shoot Andrew and Dane's engagement photos, they were getting ready for another couple's wedding. We wanted to show the act of dressing for the event, as well as get their dog, Chewbacca, in a few shots! Shot in their home in Chicago, IL.
