I love road trips-- I grew up in the backseat of my parents' minivan on long trips to Destin, Florida in the spring, Minnesota in the summer, Illinois at Christmas. I've already made several road trips this summer: an adventure through Great Plains and Badlands, a short jaunt down to Western Kentucky to see the eclipse on the path of totality, and a last minute trip in mid-August to spend a few days in Savannah, Georgia. Emi and I decided on and planned the trip within a two-hour span one day whilst working on art projects in my basement! In the days before the trip Emi said she'd heard she needed to watch Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil so many times she'd started to anticipate the question.
We wanted to see the Spanish moss, Southern Gothic cemeteries, and colonial plantations. What we didn't anticipate was that we'd be there during a heatwave (hot even for Georgians, if you can imagine). Despite the heat, I caught some great photos of Savannah this summer.
